Not just from the material itself, but from the systematic way it is applied; typically in cascading layers that let the water roll off and keep snow and ice from working its way in. An essential and lucrative profession that's always in high demand, students in Mr. Rowen's Construction Technology class were learning about this standard shingling technique.
