Bruce Derscheid

Bruce Derscheid was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa on May 19, 1943, and received his wings Feb. 10, 2023, with his family by his side. Bruce grew up east of Eagle Grove on his family’s farm. He received a BA in Agronomy from Iowa State and later became a pilot. His life adventures led him to Montana, the Dakotas and finally Minnesota. Bruce’s kind heart and easy-going nature touched so many in his life.

Bruce met his beloved Marilyn Haubrich in 2005 and they were inseparable ever since. Bruce was an avid reader and Barnes & Noble was his happy place. He had a passion for volunteering, crossword puzzles, nature walks, and adored birds of all kinds.

Bruce is survived by his beloved Marilyn Haubrich, sister Susan Derscheid, nieces Linda Biederman (John), Kristin Kula (Christopher), Deborah Hansen (Andrew), nephew David Derscheid, four great-nieces and nephews, Greg (Cheri) Haubrich, Jean Fraser, Teresa Wingert, Mark (Becky) Haubrich, Mary (Tom) Haubrich, and his furry, and very vocal admirer, Rusty (dog). Preceded in death by parents Robert Derscheid and Esther (Madson) Derscheid, sister Phyllis Melchert, and brother Ronald (Ellen) Derscheid.
