Jule Hanus
Grimes – E. Jule Hanus, the son of Emile and Faye (Yoder) Hanus, was born in Clarion, Iowa on Dec. 28, 1941. He was raised on the family farm outside Blairsburg Iowa and educated in Clarion, Iowa and graduated with the “Class of 1960”. He was enlisted in the United States Army from 1960 to 1963.
On January 8, 1965, Jule was united in marriage to Karen Rieks at St. John’s Catholic Church in Clarion, Iowa to this union four children were born, they later divorced. On October 16, 2019 Jule married Charlotte Barreras in Council Bluffs.
Jule spent his whole life as a truck driver for many different companies. He enjoyed fishing, gambling, NASCAR, classic cars and car shows, and was an avid Hawkeye fan. He loved collecting butter churns and was proud of his large collection. Jule was a member of the New Hope Assembly of God Church in Urbandale and the Grimes Golden Club. He will always be remembered as a humorous outgoing person and never knew a stranger.
Jule passed away at MercyOne Medical Center on Dec. 21st, 2022 at the age of 80 years. He was proceeded in death by his parents; grandsons, Matthew Carpenter and Mark Carpenter; brother-in-law, Ron Reiland; sister, Barb Ostercamp and step-father, Larry Moser.
Jule is survived by his wife, Charlotte Hanus of Grimes; children: Diana (Rob) Carpenter of Webster City, David Hanus of Otho, Dwight (Amy) Hanus of Fort Dodge, Danny (Penny) Hanus of Buford, Georgia, Angela (Justin) Lindsey of Sioux City, Nicholas Rojas of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; grandchildren: Mitch (Chelsie) Carpenter, Tyler Carpenter, Ashley (Thomas) Throntveit, Jacob (Abby) Hanus, Morgan (Jacob) Ladlie, Mackenzie Hanus, Madison Hanus, Emilie Olveda, Natalie (Kris) Hudspeth, Ashley Olveda, and Buddy Lindsey; great grandchildren: Blair, Savannah, Luke, Claire, Ayla, Brinley, Allie and Joseph; sister, Mary Reiland; brother Eddie (Amy) Hanus and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Monday, January 2, 2023 from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 1 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Reception followed at the Eagle Grove VFW, 119 W Broadway, Eagle Grove Iowa.
