Brandon Lee Zigrang was born June 19, 2006 to Jean and Becky (Jessen) Zigrang in Clarion, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Clarion, attending CGD schools, where he was currently a sophomore in high school.
Brandon was an honor roll student, and was active in track, basketball and in FFA. During his middle school years, he won a number of track events and set a new school record in the 110 meter hurdles. He was also previously a member of the middle school band and cross country team.
Brandon loved running from an early age, participating in 5k’s as early as six years old, he also participated in the Belmond mini-Triathlon and rode in RAGBRAI several times.
Brandon wasn’t afraid to work and didn’t mind getting his hands dirty, whether it was alongside his dad laying flooring, working at Hennigar Construction over the summer, or at Pizza Ranch.
In his spare time, Brandon loved being outside, swimming (he was known to be a fish out of water), kayaking, golfing and fishing, an activity he enjoyed year round with the help of an ice shack and an auger. He loved spending time with his parents at Timbukbru, playing bingo and most recently, singing karaoke. He also enjoyed playing chess, X Box and computer games, putting together puzzles and reading Anime graphic novels.
Brandon was a lifelong member of St. John Catholic Church in Clarion, where he was baptized. He was an altar server and traveled with the church group to Indianapolis for the National Catholic Youth Conference.
Brandon was very active in Boy Scout Troop 1047, and was working towards his Eagle Scout award by building a fish cleaning station at Lake Cornelia, a project that will be lovingly completed by his coworkers at Hennigar Construction in his memory.
Brandon was a loving, caring kid, who was fun to hang out with. He was quiet, but made friends easily and always tried to make others laugh. He will be remembered for his kindness and inclusion of others.
