Viola H. Umstead

Viola H. Umstead was born on 03/16/1924 in Long Prairie, MN to Leslie and Ruth Bradford. She passed away on 01/06/2022 in Tucson, AZ. Viola and her family moved to Vanport, OR during WWII to help build the Liberty ships. She met her future husband, Lyden Umstead, and they were wed on 01/01/45. After the war they moved to Eagle Grove, IA where they raised their three children, Sharon, Kimberly and Craig. Viola was a lady of considerable and varied talents including sewing, crafting, music, etc. Hobbies included reading, fishing and home decor. She was very involved with the Methodist Church and Circle. After losing her husband, Lyden, in 1996, she moved to Tucson, AZ to be close to Kim and Craig. Viola is survived by children Sharon (Umstead) Brinkert, Kimberly Umstead and Craig Umstead, son-in-law Ronald Brinkert, three sisters-in-laws, several nieces and nephews, three grandchildren, Ryan, Jessica and Pamela, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters (Ann and Dot), two brothers (Everett and Buck). She will be greatly missed by all.
