Gary Rohrback
Born on March 3, 1944, in Des Moines, Iowa and adopted by Duane E. and Irene (Butler) Rohrback, at the age of 4 ½ years old, he was named Gary Edward Rohrback and moved to make his home in Clarion, Iowa. He graduated from Clarion High School “Class of 1962”.
In 1962, Gary entered the U.S. Army and continued to serve his country for 21 ½ years – some of the time was served in the Army National Guard. He remained very Patriotic throughout his lifetime.
On October 17, 1970, Gary was united in marriage with Mary C. (Unger) Wilson in Belmond. Four days later, the family moved to Fort Leonard Wood, MO – as Gary continued his military career and Mary learned about married life in the armed services. Gary and Mary were able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a chicken dinner (from non-other than the Family Table!)
Gary drove truck from 1980 – 2000, driving for various companies such as: Holmes Elevator, Flow Guard, Crest Pac, Boone Valley, Hagies Tire Shop, Ellsworth Trucking, Abbas Trucking, Umthun Trucking, ADS and Oberg Trucking.
Gary was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed watching cooking shows – he tried out many of the recipes – going for drives, reading, bible studies, word searches and daily coffee visits.
Gary passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020, at the age of 76 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Christine (Tena) Skudlarek.
Gary is survived by his wife, Mary of Goldfield; son, Jerry “Chico” of Goldfield; son-in-law, Terry Skudlarek of Champlin, MN; grandson, Owen Skudlarek of Champlin, MN; sisters-in-law, Connie Nelson (Mike) of Britt and Judy Grandgenett (Dan) of Corwith; nephews, nieces and great nieces and nephews: Dan Nelson (Jen), Michelle Schrieber (Robert Flores) and family, Nic Nelson (Taylor), Jacob Hlavacek (Fiancée` Brie) Angie Nelson, Abby Nelson (Jessie), Jonathon, Joe Grandgenett (Rachel), Mason (Jessica), Maddie, McKinnley, Montana, MayKiiya, Millie, Amy Fox (Caleb), Amelia and Camden.
Visitation is Wednesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove – with a Rosary and Vigil service at 4:00. Masks are mandatory and Social Distancing protocols must be followed. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.
