Vincent Luverne Olson

Vincent Luverne Olson, age 96, of Eagle Grove, passed away peacefully at Crestview Manor, on Oct. 21, 2023. The family has chosen Boman Funeral Home (www.bomanfh.com) to care for their needs.

He was born on Oct. 2, 1927, in Lake Mills, Iowa, to Nels and Marie (Helle) Olson. After high school, Vincent served his country as a member of the United States Navy, on an Aircraft Carrier from 1945 to 1947. Vincent’s career spanned over four decades at Chicago NW Railroad. He joined the railroad company in 1949 as a telegrapher and steadily progressed to become a Depot Agent. In 1963, Vincent relocated to Eagle Grove, marking a new chapter in his professional journey.

On Aug. 28, 1949, he married Margaret Rygh. They shared many beautiful years together until Margaret’s passing on Feb. 17, 1992. Vincent then found love again and married Irene on Feb. 5, 1994; unfortunately, she passed away on January 9, 2023. Vincent was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove, and a former member of the Eagle Grove Lions Club. He had a passion for golfing, and also enjoyed riding his beloved lawnmower.

Vincent is survived by three children: Claudia (Tom) Sheets of Goldfield, IA; Bradley Olson of Minneapolis, MN; and Mary Jo Walton of Chanhassen, MN. nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives; daughter Rebecca; five brothers and one sister. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa Lions Eye bank (2500 Crosspark Rd, W300, Coralville, IA 52241).
