Sherry Fletcher

Sherry Lee (Christopher) Fletcher, daughter of Lyle Sr. and Helen (Peterson) Christopher was born on February 1, 1953, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Popejoy and graduated from Goldfield High School “Class of 1972”.

On August 19, 1972, Sherry was united in marriage with Jim Fletcher in Goldfield. The couple made their home in Junction City, KS, Germany, San Antonio, TX, and then returned to Iowa (moving around numerous times) before settling north of Goldfield for 23 years.

Sherry worked in various convenience stores, including Pronto/Casey’s in Goldfield until her retirement.

She enjoyed playing solitaire on the computer, watching westerns, motorcycle trips, time with family and camping at Eldred-Sherwood Park in Goodell.

Sherry passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024, at the Paula Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge, at the age of 71 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Larry Christopher and Lyle “Sonny” Christopher, Jr.; sisters, Phyllis Burlingame, Vila Armstrong and Betty Copp and beloved dogs, Stubs and Leah.

Sherry is survived by her husband, Jim Fletcher; son, David Fletcher (Abby) of Nevada; grandchildren, Mercedes, Lexy and Finley; great grandson, Jasper; sisters, Mary Schulz of Goldfield and Judy Eisenbacher of Algona; brothers, Gary Christopher (Melanie) of West Branch and Orville Christopher of Pensacola, FL; dog, Mickey and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, 1 p.m. Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with visitation from 12 p.m. until service time. The burial will be at a later date in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.

Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove is in charge of arrangements.
