Ruth Arlene (Brisbin) Hanson
Ruth Arlene (Brisbin) Hanson was born on December 27, 1919, at home in Eagle Grove, to Fred G. and Nellie (Jones) Brisbin. She was the sixth of eight children. Ruth passed away on March 26, 2021, at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge.
Ruth was educated in the Eagle Grove schools, and after graduating in 1938, she attended the Beauty Academy of Cosmetology in Fort Dodge, then worked in the beauty shop of the Boston Store.
She continued her career out of her home on the farm for many years.
Ruth married her “high school love”, Robert G. Hanson, on January 24, 1942, and they lived on the Hanson Family Century Farm southwest of Eagle Grove, where Bob was born and raised. Bob and Ruth were blessed with four children, John, Bill, Mary and Ron.
Bob passed away March 24, 1997, and Ruth remained on the farm until 2000, when she moved into a Rotary Ann Townhome on Stockdale Drive in Eagle Grove. She enjoyed her beautiful view of farm fields south of her new “home”! Ruth was an active member of Evangelical Lutheran Church for 70 years, and in recent years returned to the United Methodist Church where she began her religious upbringing, and where she became active in the women's organizations. Ruth was active in community organizations, the Troy Culture Club, and volunteered at the Rotary Ann Home. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, and all types of “hand” work, working in the flower beds and “digging” in the good old “Mother Earth”. She also enjoyed reading and listening to music.
Ruth is survived by her children, John (Bonnie) of Greenwood, IN, Bill of Fort Dodge, Mary (Jim) Christianson of Spirit Lake, and Ron (Sally) of Carmel, IN; grandchildren: Kristin, Erik & Kirk Hanson, Lisa (Pete) Sharp, Lori (Todd) Whitaker, Dave (Anne) Hanson, Christine (Dave) Nichols, Steve (Kristen) Christianson, Dan Christianson, Molly (Josh) Friedrich, Nick (Leslie) Hanson; 15 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings and daughter-in-law, Linda Hanson.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
