Russell Tokheim

Russell was born June 13th, 1934 to Edwin and Gladys in Eagle Grove, IA and died November 3rd, 2024 in Bloomington, MN.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Gladys Tokheim, two sisters, Anita Norem and infant Lauralee, his wife June and daughter, Kirsten Wrieden. He is survived by brother Paul, children Mark and Karin (Gregg) Meier, Grandchildren Brett (Abby) Wrieden, Brook Wrieden, Garrett Meier and Keynon Meier, and Great Granddaughter Jade.

Russell graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1952. He graduated from University of Iowa in 1956 and was active Sigma Delta Chi.

After graduating he was a journalist at several rural newspapers. He moved to Minneapolis, where he worked in writing and advertising. In Minneapolis area he worked for numerous companies. He worked for: Miller Publishing, Kerker, Colle McVoy, West Publishing, Harvest Consulting and Northfield Freezing among a few others.

Russell was involved with Toastmasters and Sons of Norway Vonheim Lodge. He participated in activities with his children at the YMCA and Boy Scouts of America.

Russell was a long-time member of Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis where he met June. They were married in 1967 and raised their family in South Minneapolis on Emerson Avenue near Lake Harriet. June and Russell later moved to 7500 York in Edina where he lived until his passing.

Visitation at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 14th, funeral service at 11 a.m., at Normandale Lutheran Church, 6100 Normandale Road, Edina MN 55436. Memorials preferred to Normandale Church Foundation.
