Roberta Aukland

Roberta (Bert) June Aukland was born on March 17, 1952, to Ivy S. McDaniel and Iowah Corrine (Boag) McDaniel in Fort Dodge, Iowa, which is where she met the love of her life, Olan. They were married on April 18, 1974, and together they raised four children, Corrine, Edward, Tami and Sara.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Olan; four children, Corrine (Shiloh) Mork of Webster City, Edward (Char) Aukland of Florida, Tami (Greg) Olson of Webster City, and Sara (David) Walk of Texas; eleven grandchildren: Andrew Mork, Nathan (Ashley) Mork, Beth (Dhruvin Patel) Alexander, Katie (Stephen) Lloyd-Jones, Myles Aukland, Gabby Aukland, Megan (Dylan) Adams, Caleb Olson ( Kamry Dawson), Tyler Olson (Tatum Goings), Morgan Walk, Lauren Walk (Cason Johnsen); four great grandchildren, Caysen, Collins, Noah and Aletheia; sisters-in-law, Sue McDaniel, Marilyn Howard and Lois Aukland; many nieces and nephews and lifelong good friends, Deb Knudtson and Teri Myers.

Bert loved being around people, she enjoyed making people around her laugh. She worked hard her entire life. In 2009, she started a free Community Thanksgiving Day Celebration in Eagle Grove for anyone who did not have a place to go. Bert just wanted everyone to have a place to be and to feel like they were family. She did this for 10 years before her battle with cancer began. The tradition lives on through the generosity of the Eagle Grove Chamber and community volunteers for people to continue to gather on Thanksgiving Day. Bert fought courageously with her cancer. She will be greatly missed by her family and her friends.

Bert passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the age of 71 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Margaret Gulley; brother, Charles McDaniel; aunt, June Boag; granddaughter, Erin Aukland; in-laws, Gudmund and Alice Aukland and brother-in-law, Robert Aukland.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Private family services will be held.
