Marilyn Rose Selma Kroll

Marilyn Rose Selma Kroll, 86, of Austin, MN passed away on Monday, Oct. 9, 2023, at the Cedars of Austin in Austin, MN.

Marilyn was born on April 15, 1937, in Chicago, IL to George and Beatrice (Saktarow) Walin. She graduated from Denfield High School in Duluth, MN. She went on to work as a secretary for Prudential Insurance in Duluth, MN. She married Harlan Kroll on June 1, 1957, in Duluth, MN and together they had three children, Gary, Terri, and John. The couple moved to Hayfield, MN and Marilyn started an in-home Daycare and also worked as a baker at Ottos Bakery in Hayfield, MN. She retired from Century Plastics in Hayfield, MN.

Marilyn was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield, MN. She was also a member of the Hayfield American Legion Post 330. She helped to run the Hayfield fire department community events, as Harlan was a member of the fire department. Her and Harlan also helped with Share Christmas in Iowa for many years. She was a friend of Bill W and Doctor Bob. She enjoyed quilting club, baking, gardening, traveling, and fishing. She looked forward to their camping trips in their little camper. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and was glad she finally had a great grandchild.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 66 years, Harlan Kroll; daughter, Terri Stier; son, John (Vicky) Kroll; daughter-in-law, Janina Kroll; grandchildren, Crystal (Erik) Grubb, Daniel Stier, Renee (Ryan) Linskey, Chelsea Kroll, Blake (Kaitlyn Maidl) Kroll, Samantha Kroll; and great-grandson, Nolan Dale Linskey.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; son, Gary Kroll; sister, Georgia Huberty; brother and sister-in-law, Rueben and Barbara Kroll; and a few loved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 1st St SE in Hayfield, MN, with Pastor Kristen Anderson officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment was in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield, MN.
