Margaret Sundberg

Margaret Ann (Reil) Sundberg was born on February 22nd, 1933 in Charles City, Iowa to Fred and Prudence (Stoyles) Reil. She attended schools in Waterloo, Iowa; Platteville, Wisconsin; Strawberry Point, Iowa; and, after moving to Eagle Grove in the summer of 1950, graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1951.

Upon graduating from Eagle Grove Junior College, she taught kindergarten in Nora Springs, Iowa. Later she worked in the Quaker Oats office in Fort Dodge.

On March 2, 1962, Margaret was united in marriage to John Sundberg. The couple had two children, Mark in 1964 and Jill in 1968.

She was a member of Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church and active in church circle prior to moving to Rotary Senior Living. She enjoyed traveling to Wisconsin in the summers and being a homemaker. She had an incredibly kind heart and always put others before herself.

Margaret passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, July 5th, 2024, at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove, Iowa at the age of 91 years.

Preceeding her in death were her parents Fred and Prudence Reil; her younger brother, John Reil; her husband, John; her son-in-law, Jeff Gruber, along with several other relatives and friends. She is survived by her son, Mark Sundberg of Eagle Grove; daughter, Jill Gruber of St. Paul, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Marcie Reil of Kelseyville, California; sister-in-law, Donna Hicks of Linn Grove, Iowa; cousin-in-law, Gordon Sundberg and wife Marge of Eagle Grove; and several nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
