Margaret Mrazek

Margaret Mrazek, 97, of Goldfield, passed away Sept. 29, 2023, at Crestview Nursing & Rehabilitation in Webster City. She was a kind, thoughtful and caring wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who was devoted to her family.

Margaret Rose Montgomery, daughter of Arthur and Emma (Mammen) Montgomery, was born March 25, 1926, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, where she attended school. For a time she worked as a day-care worker.

Margaret’s first marriage resulted in the birth of four sons. In December of 1974, she married Donald Mrazek, and they made their home in Goldfield.

Margaret was a hairdresser and operated Margaret’s Beauty Shop in Goldfield for many years. She enjoyed reading and tending to her garden.

She is survived by her sons, Marty Walters of Dassel, Minnesota; Dave (Jody) Walters of Waukee; Steve (Betty) Walters of Urbandale; and Mike (Angie) Walters of Goldfield; stepdaughters, Deb (Ron) Shields of Palo and Cathy Mrazek of Cedar Rapids; and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including the most recent addition, Margaret Rose. Also surviving is her sister Eleanor (Jerry) Murphy of Emmetsburg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, in 2007; daughter-in-law Kathy Walters; siblings, Harv Montgomery, Elmer Montgomery, Florence Schmidt, her twin Marie Tindall, Berniece Graff, Viola Melande, and Raymond Montgomery.

Margaret will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. At her request, no services were held.
