Lois Darlene Kraft
Renwick – A funeral service for Lois Kraft was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Renwick. Burial followed at Elmwood Cemetery near Renwick. The service was live streamed on St. Paul Lutheran Church’s Facebook Page. A visitation took place from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, at the church.
Lois Darlene Kraft, the daughter of Erwin and Frieda (Licht) Lehman, was born in Beaver Township, Humboldt County, Iowa on February 20, 1939. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church and confirmed at Ullenvang Lutheran Church. Lois attended grade school in Thor and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1957. She was employed at Security Savings Bank at that time.
Lois was united in marriage to Dale Kraft on December 15, 1957, at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. This union was blessed with three children. In March of 1958 they moved to the Kraft farm north of Renwick where Dale was raised. Lois learned to drive the tractor and helped with the farming. She also worked at the Meredith Corporation for 20 years, then later at the Honey Barn quilt shop.
Lois was very active in church. She was a Sunday school teacher, council member, WELCA member, and an original member of the Ruth Circle. She was also a clerk for Boone Township, member of the Renwick Rural Fire Association, 4-H assistant leader, and lunch lady for the school cafeteria. She loved sewing clothes, making quilts, and working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She was well known for her homemade buns and cinnamon rolls.
Lois died January 27, 2024, at Iowa Specialty Hospitals – Clarion at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother John; step grandson Mike Lambert; niece Diane Hanson; great niece Melanie Hanson; brother Melvin Lehman; and sister Ines Hanson (John). Lois is survived by her husband Dale, her children: Janet Lambert (Don), Randy Kraft, Craig Kraft (Annette), four grandchildren, one step grandchild, five great grandchildren, and nine step great grandchildren.
