Kay Collicott

Fort Dodge / Eagle Grove – Kay Frances Collicott was born on Feb. 26, 1956, at St Joseph Mercy Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Gail and Evelyn (Clark) Collicott. She was raised and educated in Eagle Grove, graduating from Eagle Grove High School, “Class of 1974”. Kay then attended ICCC and graduated from Briar Cliff College.

Kay worked as a house parent for the Nebraska School of Deaf and taught sign language. She also worked at the Mosaic workshop in Clarion and for the Boys and Girls home in Fort Dodge. All of her jobs and life revolved around helping others. Kay moved to Fort Dodge in 2003, after caring for her mother for 11 years.

Kay was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove. She enjoyed dancing at family gatherings, traveling and most all – shopping! (If she was ever having a tough day = Retail Therapy)

Kay passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Friendship Haven Health Center in Fort Dodge, at the age of 67 years. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents and brother, Dwight Collicott.

Survivors include her nieces, Tami Trotter (Brett) and Teri Newcomb (Chris); nephews, Curt Collicott (Amanda) and Christian Collicott; great nieces and nephews: Ben Trotter, Bailey Jensen (Jeff), Jacob Newcomb, Nathan Newcomb, Hunter Collicott, Emma Collicott and Bryce Jennings; sister-in-law, Linda Collicott; longtime friend, Marcia Schnell and other family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove. Visitation was Wednesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary service at 4:30 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Eagle Grove.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
