Judy Russell

CLARION, IOWA – Judy Russell, 83, of Clarion, passed away Friday, Feb. 17, 2023 at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023 at St. John’s Catholic Church, 608 2nd Avenue North East in Clarion, with Father Jerry Blake officiating. Burial held at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Clarion.

Visitation was held from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Judy Marie, daughter of Leo and Della (Claude) Gramblin, was born on Sept. 5, 1939 in Webster County. When Judy was eight, her family moved to Galt where she grew up. She attended and graduated Clarion High School in 1958.

On Nov. 28, 1958, Judy was united in marriage to James Russell at St. John’s Catholic Church in Clarion. They farmed in the Clarion area for over 40 years.

While their kids were young, Judy and Jim enjoyed going on family fishing and camping trips in the summer. Judy was active at church with women’s circle and teaching education classes.

Judy enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens and watching the birds, especially the cardinals and eagles. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Judy is survived by her sons Richard Russell of Clarion, Kevin Russell of Clarion, Keith Russell of Eagle Grove, and Eric (Alison) Russell of Clarion; daughter Kim Russell of Webster City; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jim Russell in 1998; companion of 20 years Forest Knight in 2021; great-grandson Riggin Francis Russell in 2018; and her parents.
