Judy Frakes
Eagle Grove – Judy Ann (Douglas) Frakes, the daughter and oldest of seven children of William and Althea (Griffith) Douglas, was born on Nov. 21, 1944, in Goldfield, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth, graduating from Goldfield High School “Class of 1963”.
On January 8, 1966, Judy was united in marriage with John Michael Frakes at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove. The couple made their home and raised three daughters in Eagle Grove. John preceded her in death on July 8, 2010.
Judy was a homemaker and mother, but she also worked at the Princess Movie Theater, Fjetland Service Station, Ron’s Restaurant, Eagle Grove Pharmacy and was an Avon Lady for nearly 50 years.
Judy was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she was very active with church circle, guild, Meals on Wheels Coordinator and loved working at the Fair Stand. She was a member and officer of Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Senior Citizens.
Judy loved to play cards and enjoyed bowling, gambling, and Rock ‘n Roll music. She was the family “Matriarch” ~ always organizing all of the family gatherings and events!
Judy passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, in Des Moines, at the age of 77 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Michael Douglas and niece, Tamara Bohland.
Survivors include her daughters: Brenda Hebert (James) of Fort Dodge, Lynette Jergens of Denver and Jennifer Frakes of Minneapolis, MN; four grandchildren: Lindsey Hebert, Brent Hebert, Alyssa Jergens and Sydney Sessler (Jacob); three great-grandchildren, Alivia Hebert, Da’Moni Clayton and Sienna Sessler; siblings: Jackie Tharp (Jeff) of Blue Grass, William Douglas, Jr. (Jan) of Goldfield, Deb Thompson (Dick) of Eddyville, Lori Weets (Larry) of Goldfield and Connie Ruiter (Kyle) of Goldfield; sisters-in-law, Cathi Douglas of Rapid City, SD and Arneda Toillion (Bruce) of Spokane, WA and numerous extended family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Father Jerry Blake, celebrant. Visitation was Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. with a Rosary/Vigil at 2:15 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. The burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
