H. Jeanette Kaulen

H. Jeanette Kaulen was born on August 13, 1931 in her family home in Corwith, Iowa to Gertrude (Heise) and Cecil Donaldson. Jeanette graduated from Britt high school in 1950.

She married the love of her life Dar Kaulen May 31, 1952. In 1956, they welcomed Cyndee, in 1962, Jeff and Kari in 1966. The family lived in Eagle Grove until 1976 when they moved to Webster City, before moving to Boone in 1977. The family stayed in Boone until 1984 before moving back to Eagle Grove. In 1986 Jeanette returned to Webster City before returning to Eagle Grove in 1988 where she lived out the rest of her life with family and friends.

Throughout her life Jeanette held many jobs. As a teenager she worked as a waitress. After she was married to Dar, she worked for Iowa Public Service, Graham’s department store in Eagle Grove and Boone, Osweiler’s clothing store in Webster City as well as various other positions in other areas of retail before retiring. 

Jeanette was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove, where she participated in circle and other activities. 

In her free time Jeanette liked to read, go shopping (especially shoes), having coffee with friends and baking. 

Jeanette was preceded in death by her father Cecil, step father Grover Thornbury, mother Gertrude, husband Dar and son Jeff. She is survived by her grandson Jared, grandson Cody, daughters Cyndee and Kari, daughter in law Rebeca and step grandsons Alex Isaiah and Sean, and fur grandbabies Smoke and Coco.

A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, June 18 from 2 to 5 p.m., at The Grove Inn and Suites in Eagle Grove Iowa.
