Gordon Neil Sundberg

Gordon was born at home in Barnes Township, Linn Grove, Iowa on August 24, 1935.

He graduated from Linn Grove Consolidated School in 1953.

He attended college at Iowa State University graduating in 1957 with a teaching degree in science and agriculture. He then taught one year at La Porte City High School before he was inducted into the United States Army From 1958-1960. He served his time in Texas and also overseas in Korea for the remainder of his service.

In August of 1959 he married Marjorie Mindemann at the Congregational Church in Gilbert, Iowa.

After returning from service Gordon taught math and science at La Porte City Community School from 1960-1964. He got his Masters Degree in Mathematics from the University of Northern Iowa. He taught math at Geneseo School from 1965-66.

In 1966 Gordon and Marjorie moved to Eagle Grove. Gordon taught math at Iowa Central Community College for 29 years, retiring from teaching in 1995.

Gordon served in membership of the Lions Club, Served as an EMT for several years, and is a 50+ years member of the Masons. Gordon served on many committees at the United Church of Christ Church, as well.

He was preceded in death by wife Marjorie, his brother Quentin Sundberg, and great-grandson Shawn Cook.

Left to cherish his memory are son Keith, daughter Brenda (Brian), three grandchildren and one great grandson.

Gordon will be cremated with burial at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
