Lazy J Rescue Ranch, located down a twisting, turning path of tangled gravel roads between Eagle Grove and Goldfield, is a final refuge for many animals who might otherwise have suffered horribly. This Saturday the ranch hosted a golf outing at the Eagle Grove Golf Course to raise funds "fore" the animals they shelter, and it's safe to say it was a hole in one!

Before the official start of golfing duffers gathered in the clubhouse to buy raffle tickets and bid in the silent auction for a fantastic assortment of prizes donated by businesses and individuals with a soft spot in their hearts "fore" animals. And, perhaps, to lubricate their joints just a little, if you know what I mean.

Then things got going with a whisper instead of the expected bang. Although a shotgun start was planned, the shotgun got left behind. So ranch co-owner Tyler Linn set the golf carts racing across the grass with a wave of his hand and a simple, "Ok, you can go now."

Holes were sponsored by local businesses and philanthropists – including the Eagle Grove Eagle. Some of the hole sponsors got clever with it, hosting fun games at their holes. Mallori Phillips, OD played Prism Putting, using an optometrist's prism lens glasses to split the golfer's vision for a more challenging put. While Rails Bar went so far as to actually set up an electronic dart-board on the green! While fans of the Eagle could spin to win at the Eagle Grove Eagle, Mid-American Publishing "Hot Off the Press" hole. While sponsor Read Head Tribe Logos produced much of the merchandise available to buy.

All in all a great time was had by all. And hopefully all the funds that fun raised will bring a respite to more animals in need.
