Eagle Grove Family Aquatic Center will not open this summer

The City of Eagle Grove held off as long as possible in making the difficult decision not to open the Eagle Grove Family Aquatic Center for the 2020 season.

“Due to the current Covid-19 condition in and around Wright County, we believe it to be in the best public interest for both patrons and aquatic center staff to not open the Eagle Grove Aquatic Center this summer,” said City Administrator Bryce Davis.

With many residents anticipating this decision, there have been families who have purchased an at-home, above ground pool as a way to keep cool and still enjoy some time in the water this season.  Davis reminds the public that there are city guidelines that must be followed should you decide to purchase one for your family.

The City Code regarding swimming pools states the following:

“All swimming pools located within the zoning jurisdiction of the City shall be surrounded by a fence or wall at least four feet in height. The fence or wall shall be designed to prevent entry into the pool by small children and by dogs and cats.”
