Duane M. Lewis

 

      Duane Michael Lewis, the son of Wilson E. “Gene” and Ione Vera (Knight) Lewis, was born on April 20, 1952 in Goldfield, Iowa.  He attended school in Goldfield, Eagle Grove and a trade school in Des Moines.

 

       After graduation, Duane worked as janitor at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home.  He then went to work at the family service station – L & L Service for 30 years.

 

       Duane was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and a long-time member of the Goldfield “Sky Warn” – his radio name was “Little Maverick”.  He enjoyed participating in the activities at the Clarion Wellness and Rehab Center, reading science-fiction books and comic books and he loved his pets, Charlie – the basset hound and Peaches the cat.

 

       Duane passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Mercy One North Iowa in Mason City, at the age of 69 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and great-nephew, Will Lewis.

 

      Survivors include his brother, Ernie (Pam) Lewis of Goldfield; sister, Nancy (Dan) Foster of Madison, AL; 8 nieces and nephews; 9 great-nieces and nephews and 1 great-great niece.

 

      Graveside services will be held for Duane and his father, Wilson “Gene” Lewis on Friday, June 18, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield with Pastor Sara Sutter officiating.   

 

      Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
