Carrol Flatebo

Eagle Grove — Carrol Dean Flatebo was born on June 9, 1940, on the family farm in Eagle Grove, Iowa, the son of John and Geraldine (Hansen) Flatebo. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School, “Class of 1958”. He was a State Wresting Champ in 1958. After graduation, Carrol’s life-long career in the grain business began. He worked for Boone Valley, Farmland and AGP, retiring in 2002.

On June 11, 1958, Carrol was united in marriage to Judith Freeman at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove and to this union three children were born: Tim, Jeff and Jodi. 

Carrol enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling and spending time with family and friends.

Carrol was a member of the United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir for 40 years. He also sang with the Eagle Grove Chorale. 

Carrol was very active in forming the Eagle Grove Volunteer Ambulance Association and raising funds to purchase a new ambulance in 1974.

Carrol passed away on June 27, 2022, at the age of 82 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Flatebo; wife, Judy in 2020; son, Tim Flatebo and brothers-in-law, Wayne Howard and Mark Howe.

Carrol is survived by his son, Jeff Flatebo of Grand Forks, ND; daughter, Jodi Flatebo of Kamrar; six grandchildren: Jennifer Flatebo, Krystal Clarke (Alex), Kelly Flatebo, Brandon Flatebo, Jenna Crary (Adam) and Dustin Flatebo (Ashley); seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Howard and JoAnn Howe of Clear Lake; sister-in-law, Jill “Sadie” Sorensen of Goldfield and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 30, 11 a.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time. Private burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
