Veterans Assembly Monday, Nov. 11 at RBMS

The Eagle Grove Area School District is proud to once again be honoring our local heroes this Veterans Day with a special program on Monday, Nov. 11, 2019.

For more than a decade, the school has hosted this event as a way for the students to be able to show their appreciation to the men and women who have served this great country.  Hundreds of Veterans have taken part in this special presentation where students and staff serve them drinks and snacks, make posters, write essays, show videos, and honor each Veteran and branch of service.  A guest speaker is also always present to talk about their experience/affiliation in the military.  Some share personal stories that left a mark on their life.  Some talk about their duties in the military, the friends they’ve made, or the reason they joined.    And others talk about appreciating and remembering those who have served.  Robert Blue Middle School is exctied to announce two guest speakers for this year’s assembly.  They include Lisa Russell and Martha Kaiser who will be talking about the service of their sons and the impact on the family back home.

Every area veteran and/or their family representative are invited and encouraged to attend the ceremony this year on Monday, Nov. 11.  Not only is it a chance for the students to thank you for your service, but it’s a chance for Veterans to get together and talk with each other, whether it be about their own experiences in the military or just about things happening in today’s world.  It’s about showing appreciation, making bonds, and never forgetting all that has been sacrificed to be where we are today.

The Robert Blue Middle School Veterans Day reception will start at 12:45 p.m. in the commons area with the program beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the middle school auditorium.
