Eagle baseball has rough week of games

Last Wednesday in Mason City, the Eagle Grove baseball team visited conference foe Newman Catholic and lost 20-0 in three innings. Nick Halverson was able to get two base hits, while Thomas Matthes singled. Chris Williams took the loss, allowing six earned runs on five hits. Jordan Morris also pitched.

On Thursday they lost a road game at Manson 10-0 to Manson NW Webster. Mark Dawson, Halverson, Matthes and Blake Morgan all had a base hit each. Morgan also saw mound duty and took the loss, giving up two earned on five hits over four innings of work. He walked three and struck out one. Cayden Schultz also made an appearance.

In a game not reported on last week, the purple & gold lost 9-3 at Bishop Garrigan. The Golden Bears were up 6-0 after four were completed as they tried to take control early. Dawson had the big hit, a triple, and scored a run. Matthes kept his bat working well with a two-hit night, an RBI and a run scored. Morgan bashed a two RBI single as well.
