Eagle cross country team fifth at Top of Iowa meet

The Eagle Grove varsity boys cross country team took fifth in the final standings at the Top of Iowa Meet held this past Monday at the NIACC campus in Mason City. Newman Catholic was the champion with 48 points, followed in order by: Garner-Hayfield/Ventura 74, Forest City 123, Central Springs 147, Eagle Grove 148, West Fork 148, North Butler 157, Osage 204, Bishop Garrigan 218, Lake Mills 242, Nashua-Plainfield 257, Belmond-Klemme 343 and West Hancock 384.

“Our team has been working towards this point of the season since summer running in August, and I was pleasantly surprised with how things turned out for us,” stated head coach Ben Demuth.

Jon Koester led the way for the purple and gold contingent, taking 11th with a 18:03.0 clocking. Following behind him were: Jacob Arbaugh in 30th with 19:16.3; Josh Graham in 41st with 19:45.0; Cael Wesselink in 42nd with 19:45.3; Justin Agtun in 45th with 19:52.7; Jacob Graham in 54th with 20:19.2 and Tomas Rolon in 62nd with 21:00.9.
