Gov. Reynolds visits Prestage Foods site

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, along with Lt. Governor Adam Gregg, were in Wright County on Saturday afternoon to visit the construction site for the new Prestage pork processing plant. They were greeted by Jere Null, COO of Prestage Foods of Iowa, who explained what was going on at the site before giving them a brief tour.

Null informed them that primarily, Iowa contractors are being used, including several in the immediate area. Those include Jensen Builders, Fort Dodge Asphalt, Yohn Ready-Mix, Wmtel in Woolstock, Martin-Marietta and Black Hills Energy among others. There are about 130 workers on the site right now, and the steel is now beginning to be raised for the 700,000 sq. foot main building.

There will eventually be an industrial park to the immediate south of the site.
