Showing support for police officers

Have you been noticing all the blue ribbons around the downtown and wondered why? It is for National Thank A Police Officer Day on September 19, which was founded by Andrew Hale who also founded the Whole Truth Project. Their Facebook page says “We’re dedicated to protecting innocent police officers, wrongly accused of police misconduct in wrongful conviction lawsuits and other civil rights cases.”

Emily Beltran, daughter of Eagle Grove Police Chief Ray Beltran, decided she wanted to do something to show support for the local police who serve and protect our community. “You’ve been hearing a lot about what’s been going on and everything that’s in the news,” said Emily. “It’s become dangerous to wear a uniform. All of it touched my heart, and I wanted to do something about it.” Emily said the response to her Blue Ribbon Campaign for Law Enforcement has been great, and businesses have come together to support the idea.
