Wrapped in prayer

Marge McCollough of Eagle Grove has done many things in her 90 years - like being one of the first board members of Our Foundation for the Future, working with County Extension, baking wedding cakes for 20 years, and serving as a 4-H leader of the Troy Trojans for 10 years; but when she began to lose her eyesight due to macular degeneration, she found yet another blessing in her life that God called her to do.

In the summer of 1999, McCollough’s failing eyesight made it difficult for her to continue doing the hobbies she loved so much, like sewing and quilting.

“There has to be something creative I can still do,” McCollough thought to herself. “I prayed about it.

Then one day she decided to go back to an old familiar pastime - crocheting. Her mother had tried to teach her when she was 12, but was unsuccessful.  But when her mother found a “Learn to crochet” book for only 10¢, that did the trick. The only problem was, she hadn’t crocheted in years.  She decided to give it a try. As she worked, she felt the yarn to see if she could do it just by..........
