Work on Highway 17 through city should be done by November

It isn’t just Highway 17 north of Eagle Grove to Goldfi eld that has been getting the DOT’s attention this year. For the past several weeks, it has been a whirlwind of activity taking place all along the stretch that winds its way through town as well. According to City Administrator Bryce Davis, the work will be over soon and motorists will be rewarded with a smooth ride that should be good for many years to come.

The entire project consisted of PCC patching, followed by grinding of the old concrete and fi nally storm water and sanitary sewer manhole replacement. “That fi nal phase should be completed in the next two weeks,” said Davis. “They will still need to go through a punch list of items after that.” While it may seem like it’s taken a lot longer than it has, the recent wet weather has not done the state any favors either. “I believe they had 55 working days to complete the project,” said Davis. “If the weather doesn’t cooperate, those days do not count against the contractor.”
