Visitors from Germany and Brazil enjoy Wright County Fair

Seventeen-year old Richard Wita and 16-year old Leonardo de Oliveira didn’t come to Eagle Grove specifically for the Wright County Fair, but they said they sure were glad their three-week-long visit put them in our community at this time.

Wita and Oliveira arrived in America on July 1 as part of a Lions Club exchange program. Wita, from Burgdorf of Northern Germany, and Oliveira of Rosario do Sol, Brazil, have been spending their time in America at the home of Eagle Grove Lions Club members Andrea Lee and her husband, Dennis.

While staying with them, one of the things they did was attend the county fair last week. “The fair is one of my favorite things about my time in Eagle Grove,” said Wita. H

e went on to explain that in Germany there are fairs, but only in the big cities - not in small towns like Eagle Grove. He thought it was really neat to see how small towns do a county fair and how all the people come out and enjoy each other, the food, and all the events.
