Veterans Day celebrated in Eagle Grove

And rows and rows of Veterans and their loved ones filed into the Robert Blue Middle School auditorium on Friday, Nov. 10 for the 19th annual Veterans Day Program.

“It started in 1999 as part of our Character Counts! initiative,” said RBMS Principal Scott Jeske. “It was such an awesome day, we’ve been doing it ever since. I just hope that the Veterans can feel how much we truly appreciate their efforts.”

Amy Ascherl, a teacher at Robert Blue Middle School echoed Jeske’s sentiments, telling the Veterans “We greatly appreciate your presence here with us today.”

After introducing each of the Veterans by name and branch of service, a POW/MIA ceremony was performed by the 133rd TS. It was an empty table set for five - representing each branch of the military and the soldier who is missing from the family dinner table. They may be missing or gone, but they will never be forgotten.
