Veterans Assembly this Friday at RBMS

There are numerous area Veterans in our communities, and for the past several years, the Eagle Grove School District has been honoring them on Veterans Day with a special program. The students and staff have served them drinks and snacks, made posters, written essays, shown them videos, and honored each Veteran by name.

Each year, they also invite a guest speaker to talk about their experience in the military. Some share personal stories that left a mark on their life. Some talk about their duties in the military, the friends they’ve made, or the reason they joined.

And others talk about appreciating and remembering those who have served. Robert Blue Middle School is excited to announce that this year’s special speaker, Charlie Walker - one of the organizers of the Brushy Creek Honor Flight, will be talking about what an experience it is to see military men and women get to take the trip of a lifetime to Washington, D.C., to see the memorial monuments.

Every area veteran and/or their family representative are invited and encouraged to attend the ceremony this year. Not only is it a chance for the students to thank you for your service, but it’s a chance for Veterans to get together and talk with each other, whether it be about their own experiences in the military or just about things happening in today’s world. It’s about showing appreciation, making bonds, and never forgetting all that has been sacrificed to be where we are today.
