Two Wright County Veterans fly to D.C. on Brushy Creek Honor Flight

Donald Deuel of Eagle Grove and Larry Golden of Goldfield had the distinction of being part of the Brushy Creek Honor Flight that took off for Washington, D.C. on Saturday, Sept. 21.

“It was a fantastic trip,” said Golden, who admitted he never thought he would get the chance to be part of an Honor Flight.

“It was amazing,” Deuel echoed, noting the camaraderie of the Veterans on the trip and the reaction of the people waiting to greet them at both the Fort Dodge and D.C. airports.

Deuel served in the Navy from 1959 to 1963 and was part of Vietnam. He also served two additional years on inactive duty. Golden served from 1969 to 1971 in the United States Army and was also part of Vietnam.
