Twin brothers take top honors in EGHS Class of 2018

It’s an age-old tradition at high schools across the country - recognizing the Valedictorian and Salutatorian of the graduating class. But never before in the history of Eagle Grove High School has there been a Top 2 like the graduating Class of 2018. That’s because this year’s highest grade point averages belong to twin brothers - Brayden and Saxon Lyman.

Brayden, earning the honor of graduating Valedictorian with the top GPA of his class, admits it was never really his “goal” to be number one, but rather to graduate with honors and at least in the Top 10.

“Saxon and I were in the Top 10 of our class after our freshmen year...and it all just fell into place and it just so happened that I graduated as Valedictorian.”

Saxon, claiming the Salutatorian spot said “I’ve always wanted to fi nish at the top of my class. I knew it would help me get into college.”

While both brothers agree the journey to the top of the class starts at the very beginning of your freshman year, it didn’t hurt that they had each other living under the same roof to give them that little bit of extra drive - not only to achieve great things, but to be better than their brother.
