The three seniors lead stats for softball season

Final stats for the 2019 Eagle Grove softball season show the three seniors leaving their mark on the final totals, as well as the all-conference balloting. The ladies had an 8-23 final record, with a 3-14 Top of Iowa mark. Central Springs won the league at 16- 1, with Bishop Garrigan next at 15-2 as both played at the state tournament. North Butler and St. Ansgar tied for third at identical 14-3 records. Laine Morgan made the 2nd Team, Hannah Beecher the 3rd Team and Jozey Gump the Honorable Mention list in all-conference balloting. In conference games only, Morgan finished 15th in batting average.

As a team, the Eagles had 775 at-bats in 31 games with 185 total runs on 212 hits. Among those were 32 doubles, 13 triples and six home runs. A total of 130 RBI were produced. There were 20 sac fly’s, 100 walks drawn, 18 players hit by pitch and 101 steals in 109 attempts. The collective team batting average was .274, with a .372 slugging percentage.

Hannah Beecher had 35 hits in 95 at-bats for an average of .347. Laine Morgan had 32 hits in 87 at-bats for an average of .368. Kenzie Crail had 25 hits in 95 at-bats for an average of .263. Jozey Gump had 22 hits in 83 at-bats for an average of .265. Cali Schultz had 22 hits in 87 at-bats for an average of .253.
