Three Eagle Grove school teachers set to retire at end of year

Laurie Legvold, Karen Farrell, and Dan O’Hern have dedicated a combined 71 years to educating Eagle Grove students (85 counting outside district teaching), but this year’s group will be their last. When the final school bell rings on June 6, they will all three be officially retired.

Legvold began her teaching career in 1989, but it wasn’t until 2000 that she joined the ranks of the Eagle Grove area school district…

Karen Farrell has worked in the Eagle Grove Area School District for the past 17 years, the first four as a para-educator - assisting individual students with specific needs.

Farrell found that she enjoyed helping others with special needs and decided to become a special education teacher and spent the next 14 years at Eagle Grove High School filling this role…

Dan O’Hern is the third and final retiree from the Eagle Grove Area School District.  He began teaching here in 1981, serving as the middle school and elementary PE teacher over the years.
