Supervisors approve new employee and hear about mental health training

The Wright County Board of Supervisors met Monday morning for their regular meeting.

Jen Sheehan with Wright County Social Services came before the board to request the hiring of ISTART Coordinator Morgan Dettbarn contingent on a background check and pre-employment physical.

ISTART provides prevention and intervention services to individuals with intellectual/ developmental disabilities through crisis response, training and consultation. Sheehan explained that Dettbarn’s dayto- day duties will cover Wright County although she will be housed in a different county. The board approved.

Todd Anderson, a Prevention Specialist for Community and Family Resources of Iowa, presented information on Mental Health First Aid trainings. He explained that the training is education-based and covers the common signs and symptoms of mental illness or substance abuse and how to interact with and help that person. He noted that trainings are free of charge and voluntary. The board noted they would consider it.
