Supervisors approve $1.5mil in loans for various updates and repairs

The Wright County Board of Supervisors held their weekly meeting on Tuesday of this week as Monday was the Presidents Day holiday. Supervisor Rick Rasmussen was not present at the meeting.

The board approved a resolution “authorizing and approving Loan Agreements, combining Loan Agreements, providing for the issuance of a General Obligation Corporate Purpose Note and providing for the levy of taxes to pay the same.” The two loans total $1.5 million, all from one lender, First Citizens Bank at 2.85%. They can be drawn down over the next couple of years.

The resolution explains what the loans will be marked for, including: security updates to the county jail building, repairs and improvements to the county communications center and sheriff’s offices, acquiring and installing computer equipment at the sheriff’s office, repairs and improvements to the county professional building, improvements and repairs to the courthouse, a new server for the county courthouse, and equipping sheriff’s vehicles.

The board was again asked to take action on two tax abatement orders for drainage districts for federal government land. Chairman Dean Kluss reasserted his stance to vote no on such abatements as it forces the tax burden to fall on landowners. Karl Helgevold motioned for the abatement and since Rasmussen was not present to second it and Kluss would not do so, the motion died for a lack of second. It will come back up in the future.
