Site study approved for industrial park near Eagle Grove

Wright County Economic Development hopes to take advantage of the Prestage hog processing development to create further economic opportunities through related industries. A truck wash, office supplier, cold storage, and other businesses could find homes in Wright County once the site is developed.

One of the ways his department hopes to help this happen, said Denny Bowman, interim economic development director, is by creating an industrial park on land adjacent to the Prestage plant site. Bowman told the county supervisors on Monday that they made contact with a landowner to get permission to check over a potential property, and that they’d like to work with ISG engineering to do a site analysis. ISG is already familiar with the area, having done some studies on the Prestage site.

“We had to have some analysis so we knew what we were going to get,” Bowman said.

Bowman said the cost of the industrial park site study could be $15- 20,000, depending on what they learn and what they have to investigate further.
