Share Christmas in need of donations

Christmas is only a few weeks away, and for too many families in Eagle Grove, they are wondering how they are going to make the holidays merry and bright. Not only are they stressed about having Christmas gifts to place under the tree for their little ones, but they are worried how they will put a meal on the table.

For decades now, that is where the Share Christmas Program in Eagle Grove has come in to help. Countless volunteers gather each year before Thanksgiving and start sending out donation requests to area businesses and organizations. Community members are encouraged to donate food and money as well. Over the years, thanks to the generous contributions of many, Share Christmas has helped hundreds and hundreds of people have a happy holiday season by providing food and gifts to people who are struggling. This year, that need is as great as ever, but donations are down.

“We’ve got over 100 families in need of assistance this year... and we like to give them as much as they can,” said Marcella Johnson, one of the Share Christmas coordinators.
