Senator Guth and Representative Baxter hold Town Hall meeting in EG

For the past several years, the Wright County Farm Bureau has hosted Town Hall meetings throughout Wright County for Senator Dennis Guth and Representative Terry Baxter. They made their stop in Eagle Grove for the 2018 Tour on Friday morning, March 2.

The 8 a.m. meeting at the Eagle Grove Memorial Library was attended by nearly a dozen people who were curious to see what the Republicans had to say about what was being accomplished in government. It also gave Guth and Baxter the opportunity to hear what is on the minds of the constituents, many who came armed with questions they were looking for answers to.

The two began by telling the audience that every two years, the committees they serve on are eligible to be changed. This was one of those years, and Baxter opted to make some new choices.

“I want to learn as much as I can about Iowa,” he explained as the reason for choosing to change - like serving now on the Economic Development Committee. He also serves on the Ag Committee.

“It’s exciting to see what’s happening in Iowa agriculture,” Baxter said. “But it’s also frightening to see...right now some of the markets are really flat.”

Baxter said he is thrilled to also now be on the Natural Resource Committee.

“I’m probably the leading sportsman in the House of Representative,” he stated.

The fourth committee he is proud to serve on is the Veterans Affairs Committee.
