School Board exercises option on land north of elementary: Possible future high school site

The Eagle Grove Board of Directors will exercise their option on approximately 30 acres of the proposed subdivision for the City to acquire land for a possible future building site. They have not yet closed on the land, and there are still details to be worked out, but this is a fi rst step.

They also spent considerable time looking at offering the early retirement package. Superintendent Jess Toliver outlined the pros and cons behind the offering, which include be able to get an idea of what staff is considering taking it and help the board get an earlier start on fi lling those positions along with it helping to balance the budget. On the fl ip side, it will affect the tax rate.

“With increased enrollment, our tax rate will go up so adding early retirement will lessen our ability to control an increased tax levy because we will need more in management,” said Toliver.
