School Board adopts $17.63 million budget

Following a public hearing, with no written or oral objections presented, the Eagle Grove School District Board of Education approved a $17.633 million budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The new budget shows a proposed tax levy rate (per $1,000 of taxable valuation) of 14.83794, which is a decrease from 15.44142 for the current year.

The Board also approved the school calendar for 2016-17. Classes are set to begin August 23, with winter break scheduled for December 23-30 and classes resuming on January 3, 2017. Commencement is set for May 21, with school being dismissed for the summer on May 23. There are no snow days built in, as those will be added to the end of the school year so the final day will likely be adjusted accordingly.

During communications and celebrations on the agenda, a group of elementary teachers presented information on the Positive Behavior In School (PBIS) initiative. Teams are in both a Tier I and Tier II, with an expectation matrix used to spell out the goals for the year.
