Sandvig creates artwork of Eagle Grove firsts

Keith Sandvig, a 1966 graduate of Eagle Grove High School, and professional artist/ illustrator, never took an art class in high school. In fact, it wasn’t until he was his junior year in college that he even discovered his talent and passion for art.

“I was a math major at ISU (Iowa State University) until my junior year when I decided I didn’t want to be an engineer. I took some interest tests and my interest was sales and art,” said Sandvig. “So I took an art class and loved it. I had never taken an art class until then.”

Sandvig worked for three years as an illustrator at a small art studio before going into sales.

“I didn’t pick up a pencil or a paint brush for over 10 years,” Sandvig said.

But then came along a client that wanted him to do an original illustration for their corporate incentive trip to Vienna, Austria.

“That’s when my illustration business took off,” he said.
