Rotary Senior Living crowns Valentines royalty

Rotary Senior Living went all out for Valentine’s Day, including crowning a King and Queen in both the North and South buildings.

Festivities started around 3 p.m. with a Valentine’s Day social hour on Saturday, Feb. 14.  There was even a magician.  But perhaps the most thrilling moment of the night came just before the prime rib dinner…the crowning of the 2015 Valentines Day King and Queen, voted on by the residents.

Harold Lauridson and Charlotte Lynn were crowned King and Queen of Rotary Senior Living South, and it was both of  their first times receiving any kind of crown.

“I’m kind of a new-comer here, so I was surprised I won…it’s wonderful,” said Harold.

“They take wonderful care of us here (at Rotary Senior Living).  Everybody is so nice and willing to help.  It’s a good staff,” he added.

Harold has lived in Eagle Grove for 18 years and was the owner of a barber shop.

Charlotte is a 1964 graduate of EGHS, and is no stranger to Rotary Senior Living.  She actually worked there for 30 years, in the laundry department, before moving in and making it her permanent home three years ago.

“Living here is nice - there’s people to talk to, companionship, activities, and just having the opportunity to be around people instead of sitting at home not seeing people is nice,” Charlotte said.  “I’ve made a lot of friends here.  I know everybody and feel right at home.” Continue reading on your Eagle Grove Eagle E-edition for the story ending!
