RBMS seventh graders put their artwork on display

There’s an inner artist in all of us, even if we don’t think so. Art doesn’t have to mean drawing a picture that looks exactly like the subject. Art is the window to the mind’s eye, being as ornate or realistic as the individual creating it imagines it to be.

Eagle Grove’s elementary and middle school art teacher, Abby Butson, helps students (kindergarten through eighth grade) find that inner talent. For the students in seventh grade, she then holds a special “Gallery Walk” at the end of each quarter to show off their completed pieces.

The same group of students come to art every day for a quarter (rotating through during other quarters to guidance, guitar, and career classes).

“I try and hit all the different types of art throughout the quarter; drawing, texture, sculpture, mixed media, and painting, so they get some experience with all the materials,” said Butson.
