Prestage talks job availability at Career Academy

Since day one, the main goals of the Career Academy in Eagle Grove has been not only to educate high school students in a field of study while gaining both high school and college credit, but to also educate them about the job opportunities that are available right here in our hometown area in these fields. The idea being that students will attend the Career Academy, get hands-on opportunities with these local employers, and eventually return back to Wright County to live, work, and stay.

On Friday, Sept. 15, the Career Academy students had the chance to learn more about Prestage Foods, a hog processing plant that is expected to be up and running by fall of 2018. In its beginning, the company will employ approximately 2,000 people, with other related businesses also having jobs available.

Terry Friesth, Prestage business analyst, told the students how she ended up with the Prestage Foods company and how she got to Eagle Grove. She admitted that she “never thought there would be jobs like this in Eagle Grove,” but after searching discovered the opportunity.
