Prestage partners with the EG Boy Scouts

Prestage Foods of Iowa has been up and running in Eagle Grove for almost three months now. In addition to running a successful business, they are also focused on the continuation of being a good steward to the community they now call home.

One of the ways they knew they could make a difference, not only for a local group, but for the environment as well, was by recycling. With hundreds of employees walking through the doors every day, pop cans add up quickly. After visiting with Prestage employee Tammy Dawson - the mother of Boy Scouts, Terry O’Rourke, Prestage Foods Plant Manager, found the perfect solution and asked her if she thought the Boy Scouts might be interested in taking over the recycling of the cans and bottles. “We average about 200 cans a day,” O’Rourke said.

The Eagle Grove Boy Scout Troop 1059 was happy to accept and was very appreciative of the offer. It will be a great fundraising opportunity for them, but also a good lesson in dedication as they will have to recycle the cans at least once a week in order to stay caught up.
